Coconut Island ABC Course 2005

Flotilla 14, in conjunction with the University of Hawaii Oceanography program,
conducted a one-day intensive US American Boating Course on Coconut Island.
The purpose of the course was to help all the graduate students, professors, and employees
that utilize the Coconut Island facilities to become safer, more knowledgeable boaters.
Life, and work, on Coconut Island often requires use and /or operation of a boat.
Members of Flt 14, plus a few from Flt 17, spent Saturday, November 19
conducting Powerpoint classroom instruction, plus dockside hands-on instruction, to over 60 students!
At the end of the day they were required to take and pass the ABC exam.

The program was so successful that it was repeated for 21 more students in December,
with plans to do more in the future!
